September is a fine time to visit Loch Lomond. The busiest summer weeks begin to ease, the hills start changing colour and several major events bring a lively finish to the season.
From our cottages in Tarbet, guests can mix local walks and lochside days with trips south to Balloch or east towards Stirling and the Trossachs.

Early-autumn ideas near Tarbet and Arrochar
September is also ideal for quieter days close to the cottages. Walk a section of the West Highland Way, explore the shoreline around Tarbet, take a cruise when services are running, or tackle The Cobbler on a settled-weather day.
Shorter daylight and rapidly changing Highland weather matter more as the month progresses. Carry suitable layers, check mountain forecasts and leave enough time to return before dark.
Where to stay
Ben Lomond Cottage, Ben Reoch Cottage and The Cobbler Cottage are based together in Tarbet, close to Loch Lomond and a short drive from Arrochar. Each sleeps up to six guests, with free parking and self-catering space for weekends or longer breaks.
